Our Mission

  • Bring to public attention the "hedonistic imperative" or the concept of "superhappiness" by establishing a media presence, hosting roundtables, panels and debates, targeted outreach, and direct lobbying
  • Mount a serious intellectual defence of the hedonistic imperative from drug-related stigma and perceived illegitimacy or utopianism
  • Encourage a conceptual shift in the way medicine is approached, from merely treating disease to enhancing the wellbeing of already healthy populations
  • Commission and directly fund research into how "superhappiness" may be achieved with safe pharmacological interventions (depending on resources)
  • Collaborate with researchers already working in psychopharmacology
  • Promote the work of David Pearce
  • Provide a forum for ethical and political discussion
  • Promote to policymakers the strong economic case for liberalising the UK's attitudes and laws, for example, attracting high-growth pharmaceutical and biotech industries
